I wanted to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped get this package to me, from the people who read my essay to the person who wrote the kind note inside the box! It brightened my day and reminded me that my allergy doesn’t always have to drag me down. A few weeks ago, I went to the ER for my first allergic reaction in three years and the most severe reaction I ever experienced in my life. I learned that my allergy has gotten worse with time, making it even more dangerous. That day was painful, humbling, and scary. This box of delicious snacks came at just the right time. I’m looking forward to enjoying all the goodies over some textbooks this fall, with peace of mind that these are extra safe for me! Thank you so much for your work. It has been empowering in a situation that made me feel powerless.

Logan's allergy basket arrived safe and sound yesterday and all I can say is wow! The contents of that basket were truly unbelievable! I first became aware of the Allergies Shaped My Life organization while researching various scholarships for which I was eligible. As I prepared to enter my first year of college, I found myself overwhelmed not only by financial concerns but also by the uncertainty of how I would navigate this new chapter of my life in an unfamiliar environment. While many students experience this transition, managing severe allergies added a significant layer of complexity to my situation. The prospect of not knowing whether the campus cafeteria would be safe for me, the challenge of communicating my dietary restrictions to unfamiliar restaurants, and the delicate conversation I needed to have with my roommate about avoiding certain foods due to my allergies were all sources of considerable stress. Living with allergies often imposes a sense of burden, as you must frequently ask others to modify their behavior for the sake of your health. During my scholarship search, I not only discovered a financial opportunity but also found a supportive community through Allergies Shaped My Life. This organization provided me with a sense of belonging and understanding that I had not previously encountered.
